Testing

Thomas Instrument performs extensive product testing. The Testing Department is staffed with experienced engineers and technicians trained to develop and perform acceptance/endurance testing according to detailed specifications. Strict adherence to customer requirements are followed to achieve product compliance. All test equipment is calibrated to meet the designated MIL specifications. Thomas Instrument is certified to the AS9100B standard.

In-house testing capabilities include:

  • Altitude Chamber to simulate pressure and temperature conditions from sea level to 65,000 ft.
  • Hydraulic Pressure routinely tested to 6,000 PSI, with capabilities to 20,000 PSI.
  • Pneumatic and Gas Nitrogen Testing routinely performed from .05 sccm to 34 pounds per minute.
  • Thermal Testing from -120F to +600F using both cryogenic and environmental chambers.
  • Dynamometers measuring load requirements from less than one ounce-inches to hundreds of pound-feet.
  • Ball Screw Testing measuring static backlash and dynamic efficiency.
  • Electronics testing.

Items routinely tested are Pumps, Motors, Actuators, Ball Screw Assemblies, Gearboxes, Clutches and Brakes, Power Drive Units, Brakes, Winches, and other Flight Control Hardware.
